 The 2005-06 Annual General Meeting Wraps Up Another Great Season for the Might Reds!
On Wednesday 21st June 2006, the 24th Annual General Meeting of the Gordon District Cricket Club Women's Division was held at Chatswood RSL.
In the words life member and outgoing President, Jessica Henry, "Without doubt the highlight of the season was the Club earning the Sydney Cricket Association, Women’s Competition Spirit of Cricket Award at the Presentation Dinner. This award epitomises the way we play our cricket and every club member should be very proud of this achievement".
A sentiment which was echoed by the strong contingent of players, members, and supporters who attended.
Our 4th Grade took out the Minor Premiership and made their 3rd consecutive appearance in the Final to win their 2nd title in 3 years. In the junior ranks, A Grade again finished as Minor Premiers, only to be defeated by arch rivals Kissing Point in the final. B Grade also took out the Minor Premiership and came up against a very determined and eventually victorious Hornsby in the Final. C Grade finished 2nd on the table and played hard in the semi final, which they unfortunately lost to Castle Hill. In summary, from 6 teams, we secured 3 Minor Premierships, a 2nd place, 2 runners-up and 1 premiership. That’s an outstanding effort.
We have some very fine young talent coming through the ranks – at all levels. Once again, Gordon is one of the only clubs with a pathway from Under 12 through to First Grade. This is something to be very proud of.
Once again our sincerest thanks goes to Chatswood RSL for their continued and generous support throughout the 2005-06 season.
