OVERVIEW
 The Gordon District Junior Cricket Club is an independent division of the Gordon District Cricket Club and provides cricket for boys and girls in teams from the “Have a Go” Under 8’s (see separate section) to the Under 16’s.
The Junior club plays its cricket within the North Shore Junior Cricket Association (NSJCA). The NSJCA in turn provides representative teams within the NSW Districts Cricket Association. This Association then reports through the Sydney Cricket Association to NSW Cricket and Cricket Australia.
Extending all the way from the harbour foreshores up to St Ives/Turramurra, the NSJCA is one of the largest, if not the largest, junior association in Sydney - with over 125 teams.
Most teams play on Saturday morning, however afternoon games have been organised particularly for children engaged in other Saturday morning activities. Players of all standards are encouraged to play for Gordon Juniors to enable the enjoyment of experiencing the great game of cricket to be available to everyone.
The Gordon Juniors are run by parents and supporters who dedicate many hours or work to enable the smooth running of the club for its players. We urge all parents and guardians to volunteer for a role with your team or club in managing, coaching, scoring, umpiring or assisting with the committee.
The NSJCA provides a Blue Book each season that provides the rules of operation of their competitions and a copy of this book is available for download.
The Gordon District Cricket Club is an active supporter of the Junior Club - sharing facilities, providing administrative support and helping with coaching for both the Gordon Junior teams and the representative sides.
The Gordon Juniors form the main base from which the senior club draws future Green Shield and grade cricketers. The Gordon club also has links with all the private schools on the North Shore, and many cricketers from the GPS, CAS, ISA and CCC competitions have subsequently progressed into the grade ranks at Gordon. Our Green shield team is an U16 representative team that participates in a Sydney wide competition over the December/ January period.
The future of the Gordon District Cricket Club lies with the juniors in the area. And with such a strong network of players on the North Shore - the future is in good hands. |
