The Under 9 Reds had a very successful season. The boys competed strongly each Saturday and showed enormous improvement in all areas, particularly bowling as the season progressed. This was also reflected in their results. The team played 15 matches, winning 10, losing three with 2 tied.
All boys made valuable contributions at different times. The team contained some talented cricketers all showing improvement throughout the season. Dexter Anderson was agile and enthusiastic as the wicket keeper and batted ably. Harry Wallace was a fast and accurate bowler, a good batsman and an agile fielder. Jack Ireland also displayed talent with both batting and bowling. Matthew Dembecki took some outstanding catches in the field. Callum James improved greatly, particularly with his bowling and finished the season strongly. Matty Viol improved his bowling out of sight and was difficult to remove as a batsman. Alexander DiCiano was a powerful batsman with good hands in the field. Ethan Catzel was an aggressive batsman who often found the boundary with some big hitting. Charlie Cox was a strong and enthusiastic batsman, consistent bowler and great team man. Hamish Stanton improved in all areas and made some fine saves in the field. Julian DiCiano was a hard hitting batsman and was always full of determination. Nathan James and Charlie Wallace filled in for the first match and showed such confidence and good skills that they remained in the team all season – a fine achievement playing up two years.
The season was enjoyed by both parents and the players with the players already counting down the days until next season. Tim Wallace, Paul Ireland, Sallie Wallace |
