There was a special birthday on this weekend (Happy Birthday Gran) that took Captain Norma & No 2 out of play which left Hankers in charge for the day (God help us)
The day started out with Hankers losing the toss and Uni electing to field (Yes Norma I would have batted). Jess(32) and Ellen (33) got the innings off to a flying start which saw them both retire. Hankers (20) and Spud (17) kept the runs flowing, Spud did try to take the opposition out by smashing the ball through the fielders shin. We ended up with 132 runs on the board which was pleasing.
Coggs thought her teaching days had ceased on the weekends but manage to keep both scorebooks up to date.
PS Jane it is wise to remove your cap before you place your helmet on, also the tag on your pants goes on the inside and at the back.
It was now out turn in the field. Annika and Jane took the new ball had a superb opening spell and were well rewarded with figures of 2/8 & 2/12 respectively. It was good to have Uni's 4 down pretty quickly. Jackie and Coggs (1/14) took up where the openers left off. Hankers, Eddie and Helen finished the overs off.
The fielding was exceptional with Eddie and Helen each creating a run out, and great fielding by both Ellen and Annika to save certain boundaries.
Thanks to Nicky and Mechelle for updating the scoreboard. Nicky you don't have to single to the umpires that you got the runs.
Well done on a great team effort
Match report thanks to Tracy “Hankers” Hancock
