Third grade round 5 |
Saturday 5th November 2011 - 3rd Grade - Gordon vs ND
Third Grade met with Northern Districts this week somewhere in the bush in Wahroonga. Norma maintained her winning luck with the toss and elected to bowl.....jokes, obviously we batted first.
Norma and "The Other One" (Number 2, aka Alyce apparently) opened the batting, scoring plentifully in the early overs. Norma scored her usual 30 pretty rapidly as she was keen for a drink and some shade ASAP. Number 2 finally sparked up after being told to "contribute" from some genius boundary-line coaching and brought her total to 30-odd. Kristen (Special K) followed suit, knocking up a speedy 26. The Reds scored a season best total of 147.
The Gordon girls took to the field full of enthusiasm, especially Spud, having just finished her HSC exams. Carly and Kristen opened the bowling for the Reds. Norma broke through when Hankers casually took a blinder at midwicket. Special K and Hankers also did their bit, each getting one wicket. Liz Richards had a great game as wicket keeper, stopping everything bowled at her, or not bowled at her.
The final over came around and El Prez insisted, using sign language and barely audible squeaks, that she bowl. It was an eventful over, with two almost-wickets, accompanied by the "almost dance" and one almost-bowl when El Prez caught her arm on her hat, causing her to drop the ball.
Good times were had by all, with Gordon winning by 55 runs.
